If run as a linear series of combat encounters with little or nothing in between, the quality goes way down, but would in most cases still somehow work.

If you plan to play this adventure as a PC and you want to be surprised, I suggest you stop reading now. If you try them with just 3 players, or even 4 very new players, you might end reqvers with a total party kill TPK.

The players need to gather allies, fight in a large military battle, then infiltrate a keep. It has about 20 pages of adventure outline, places of interest, and NPCs the mortarand about 40 pages of combat encounters the bricks.

Specifically, anx Giant Frogs are supposed to swallow characters dungeond to medium size and the characters are then stunned and taking damage. Or you use some dry erase map or dungeon tiles.

Not only is it non-linear, but there is room to drop in side-quests or whatever other ideas on might have to fill it out for your group. The PCs fight off mercenaries plundering farmsteads. I believe the Essentials products are arranged so that you can start with the adventure from the Red Box Starter Set, which takes the party from level 1 to level 2, and then move them into Reavers of Harkenwold.

Please read my Terms of Service. As it turned out, none of the other characters in the party ever attacked the giant wnd when the characters were swallowed they were busy with the bullywugs. Just be aware that with lower number of players or the players rushing directly to the end there is a good chance to wipe the party.

The Duchy qnd Harkenwold is a rich setting upon which the foundations of a campaign are easily laid.

The adventure was written for levels 2 to 4… but in my own game, I stretched this content out for months on end. I have some suggestions for improving the fun of the Giant Frogs. Thanks for your suggestions. Flexibility is the key strength of this module.
